Crude Palm Oil

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is the primary oil produced by crushing the sterilised oil palm fruit followed by clarification and drying in the processing mill.

As in the rest of  West Africa, Sierra Leonean CPO has traditionally been utilised by the local population as a sauce with rice, vegetables or meat. This is a quite distinct and different product from refined palm oil, used as a frying oil or an ingredient for bakery products.
